We had a similar problem a few years ago. We tried catch and release for a while. My roommate picked up a confused mouse she found behind the fridge by the tail with a pair of pliers and released him in Dana Park.
We couldn't get rid of them so easily though. My landlord put some serious shit down and they never came back again. I know it seems heartless but once mice come up onto your fucking stove and shit right where you cook and eat you really don't care if the little fuckers die or not. At least I didn't.
