A local woodpecker seems to have discovered that a tree in our backyard is the bird equivalent of an Olde Country Buffet. He's an adorable little thing, but loud? Lordie, is he loud. D had a nightmare a few days ago about someone knocking and knocking, and woke up out of a sound sleep to run to the other end of the apartment and make sure our houseguest hadn't somehow locked herself in our living room.

Our houseguest is Deb's niece, Ashlon, who's 17 and adorably spazzy. D's family seems to get one member in each generation who enjoys reading and science fiction and geekiness, and it's good for D and Ash to be around each other. D provides the role model, and Ash's energy and curiosity about Boston has really acted as a welcome kick in the ass for the both of us--we've gotten out of the house more in the last three days than in the entire month of February.

D and I have begun referring to her as "Sprout", a fact which would horrify her if she found out.

Southerner that she is, she was a little unprepared for our weather. She's been walking around in blankets, as seen here:

Ohhhh yeah. That'll be good blackmail material someday soon.
