Crime

Ugh. I spent the morning realizing that the kitchen goods order I placed on February 9th isn't just slow getting here--UPS actually "delivered" it on the 14th. They put it on our porch at 11:49. By the time we got home from work at 5, it was gone.

Argh. It's not just the theft, it's the stupidity of it. In my imagination it was some poor wretch so desperate for a Valentines gift that they turned to daylight robbery...but then once they opened the box and realized they'd stolen a sifter and a garlic press? Dude. DUDE. Total fail.

I'm not so sure. Given my wife's love of garlic, if I had resorted to getting a gift through theft like that, a garlic press would have been a major score...

When Micah came up for the winter holidays he was here a whole week, and I had to work. I had an extra set of keys made to give him a bit more freedom during the day. It a bit of a cutesy mood, I put the keys in an empty ring box and wrapped it.

After I met him at the airport and gave them to him he lost it (still wrapped) somewhere between the terminal and my front door. It was never reported as found, and I suspect that there was a similar type of theft going on there.

On the upside, at least they probably felt like complete tools when they opened it.

So, short version of this comment: I feel your pain.

But what if the person who stole it was walking along, looking for abandoned UPS deliveries to steal, wondering how they were going to make a nice white pizza for dinner without a garlic press or sifter...

Sorry about the theft, but it almost sounds like an April Fool's prank on the thief.

I'm thinking you should leave some of Tobey's "treasures" wrapped up on your porch.
