I was walking through the Public Garden during the windstorm last night, noticing the usual things--hello, duck, hello, squirrel, hello GIANT WALL OF LEAVES AND BRANCHES BLOCKING THE PATH.
One of the big (at least 100 years old, I think) willow trees had *just* fallen down, like within the hour. I checked out the stump and saw that the core had been eaten away for a long time--there were still some grubs wriggling in the pulp, looking sheepish.
It's a very cool sight. If you're in the area, go see it before the Parks people take the chainsaws to it.
