I know, I'm a couple years behind the times, but I've just this week discovered mashups*! Wow. All my love of crossovers and strange juxtapositions, now in musical form.

I've especially fallen in love with DJ Earworm, and especially with this Scissor Sisters vs. Beatles vs. George Michael vs. Aretha Franklin song he did: http://www.djearworm.lunarpages.com/No_One_Takes_Your_Freedom.mp3

*In other news, I think these 'CeeDee' things are really useful, and might replace cassette tapes someday! No, really!

In the past year there was a DJ at WRIU that would take requests for a 90 minute 6 degrees of separation mash up each week. I was impressed when he did mine, which was to go from Frankie Goes to Hollywood to Frank Zappa.

Yeah, someone had posted a link to a mashup of Mia's "Galang" and the Super Mario Brothers theme. Being so far out of touch, I thought that was actually the song, until I found the real Galang later. It's very catchy and you can download it from the "Cry on My Console" web page. So at least I know what one is now.

DJ Earworm is great. You have got to find a copy of Tainted Beyonce which is a mashup of Soft Cell and Beyonce Knowles. I got it from a guy at work and it is faboo.

...hmmm, sounds intriguing...it's new to me too, but then again I'm seemingly more antique than you are...after my buddhist song repeats 100,000 more times, I may go looking through the links...
