A moment of self-discovery
Oct. 17th, 2002 03:18 pmLast night at the Castle I snuck away from the folks planning the Halloween stuff and went out to the back garden to see what the ocean looked like at night during 40-to-60 mph winds.
Oh. My. God.
I had no idea it was possible to get horizontal vertigo.
Here's the thing. I'm a hillperson. I know hills. I know the shape and bulk of hills at night, and instinctively I guess I've absorbed the knowledge that if a hill is moving, something is Very Wrong. And that's what my mind was taking in last night--these hill-sized dark shapes just beyond the reach of the castle light, tons and tons of bad news MOVING MY WAY...and then they'd reach the light and be huge waves, and I'd get splashed with a bit of spray and think "Oh, that wasn't so bad--wait, what's THAT?!?!", and the whole cycle would start all over again.
Gah.
Oh, and I've learned from three sources that the castle IS haunted, thankyewverymuch, by one or two women and several cats. I knew I liked this place.
