Nov. 24th, 2004 11:27 amLast night I had not one dream but several dreams about writing an LJ post about how much yesterday's audition sucked.
For it sucked, oh my yes, it sucked like a George Lucas-directed episode of 'Oz'. Not only was I not funny, I think I killed off all comedy in that room for the next two hours--whenever another auditioner did something funny, the director would think of me and despair.
Two sentences I hope I never hear again:
"Just to warn you, I don't laugh or smile."
and
"Okay, let's see some pantomime."
(Note to self: if they're looking for physical comedy, it'd be really handy to go in there with a routine prepared. Realizing halfway through 'cowboy on horseback getting drunk' that your calves are about to give out and you're breaking the coffee table is Not Good.)
Oh, and
modpixie, you'll appreciate this: the next person in after me was Ian Thal.
Ayiieee.

Date: 2004-11-24 09:12 am (UTC)Well, /I/ think you're funny. Of course, maybe that's not reassuring...
I dunno, Bri. I figure performing can't be that different from writing, and what I know about writing is that if you're submitting your stuff to an actual decent forum then you need to find a way to feel /pleased/ or at least pleasantly resigned to a LOT of rejections and suckage in between very periodic acceptances. So I figure, every audition you do, no matter how horribly it goes, is one more audition you've done, and that's *good*.

Date: 2004-11-29 09:41 pm (UTC)It happens to all of us.
Routines are good, but there is something to be said for going in cold and just dealing with what's there.
Put it behind you and go to another audition really soon! Then again, what do I know? I'm just a clown.
