Ups and Downs
Jan. 11th, 2005 04:42 pmUp: I still seem to be able to hit the "No! I'm OUT of here!" button when I have a nightmare.
Down: This doesn't work when tiny amounts of bad stuff sneak in. So I don't have an escape when, say, I'm in the middle of a dream and notice that I've seen my eighth dead rat in four minutes. Or enter a store and discover my dog has apparently had a bathroom emergency behind the counter. Trying to clean shag carpet and wood panelling really, really quickly before a clerk notices is pretty pathetic as Nightmares go, but it's still not fun.
Up: One of the teachers has dropped off large amounts of pocky. Milk tea and coconut milk flavors.
Down: the City of Cambridge inspector nearly laughed at me over the phone when I called to ask what I needed to do in order to legally sell the chocolates I make. Apparently no commercial cooking of any sort is allowed in a private residence. Foo.
Up: A possible gig in February! No more details, lest I jinx it. But the word 'jester' has been used.
Down: White Wolf is coming out with a game called "Pimp: the Backhanding". ( http://secure1.white-wolf.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=594 ) This is the sort of thing I could see the Knights of the Dinner Table writers coming up as a parody idea, and then scrapping because it's just too idiotic and far-fetched.
Up: Sword practices are going well, and my part for Pensacola keeps sounding more and more fun. I get to learn sneaky moves! Me! A scoundrel!
Down: I just realized yesterday that Pensacola conflicts with Intercon! Boo! No fun LARPing weekend for me this year.
Really small up: I get to save money on the costume bits I would've had to buy.
Related down: I LIKE buying costume bits.
Up: Mahna-Mahna just came on iTunes.
Okay, I'll quit while I'm ahead.

Date: 2005-01-11 11:03 pm (UTC)Since White Wolf has the collective IQ of the stuff I scrubbed out of the toilet this morning, I'm planning on calling my local gaming stores and telling them I will boycott them if they carry this item. (This is painful to someone who ONLY shops at small independent bookstores, but I will do it.) If enough people do this, they will not order it, and it will not be sold. End of story.
