Epilogue to yesterday: whoever decided to cross a Bulgarian women's choir with African percussion was a genius. Geeeeeeenius.

I also find myself convinced that the world needs to hear The Cure's "Love Song" performed with a kora. I'd do it myself, but first I'd need to 1) find a kora, 2) learn to play a kora, 3) learn to sing.

I now know of three cars, including ours, which've needed their batteries replaced because of the weather. Is this an unusual thing, or something that happens every winter?

Cold weather can be bad for batteries, especially if they don't get regular use. A takes the battery out of his bulldozer (yes, my husband owns his own bulldozer) when he puts it away for the winter so that it is still good in the spring.

Older cars with their original batteries tend to have more issues in the cold, yes. One way to cut down on problems if you've still got the original (or just an old) battery is to run your car for about five minutes without any of the lights/radio/etc. on after you've been out driving. This, I understand, lets the battery recycle/regenerate more of the chemicals it needs to create a charge. This habit worked for me with my Tempo, although I wasn't strictly religious about it.

Hazmat was saying something about the battery having CCA or CCR which is an indictator of how well the battery does in cold weather. So, I'm guessing if the CCA/R is lower then due to this bloody cold weather it would die. Does that help?

I *love* your icon. That's a favorite painting of mine. :)
