This just appeared in the most recent 'Entertainment Weekly', but I feel it's worth passing along here because it's possibly the most emo song I've ever heard (and keep in mind, this is from someone who experienced the Putnam County 'I Love You' song, Concrete Blonde's 'Joey', and 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' in one afternoon yesterday).

But this tops them all. And it even gets extra points for a) seeming to equate moving to New York with imminent death, and b) being written specifically from the POV of an older sister trying to comfort a seven-year-old.

I give you, no lie, no joke, the original version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
It may be your last
Next year we may all be living in the past
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Pop that champagne cork
Next year we may all be living in New York
No good times like the olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who were dear to us
Will be dear to us no more
But at least we all will be together
If the Lord allows
From now on, we'll have to muddle through somehow
So have yourself a merry little Christmas now
