I hate this part of the school year.
It's Purge Week. After two weeks of holding spaces open for students who haven't shown up, hoping that they were just late or sick or whatever, the Registrar is wiping them out of the system.
Here's the thing: popular teachers started filling up in the Spring, way back during pre-reg. They've been full and turning away students for months. And this will be the week they're told that some of those students they were planning on seeing are actually mirages, and they'll be earning less (in some cases *much* less) than they might've if different, non-flaky students had signed up.
And guess who has to tell them?
I'm starting to understand the allure of a three-martini lunch...
