RotK last night at the Fenway, thanks to ldyfyrefly and blamehazmat's kind invitation and canny ticket-scoring ways. And oh such a carnival of geekdom it was. Going in garb is one thing (so many people did that I started to recognize the scent of wet wool cloak and know someone in garb was behind me before I turned around); having running boffer fights in front of the screen, though? That's a whole 'nother level.

Oh, sidenote: if you find yourself in that situation, duct-tape sword in your hand, and a nine-year-old in a homemade Gimli costume comes up nervously and taps you with his/her axe? FALL DOWN.

Anyhow. It was my favorite movie of the three. All the characters had a chance to shine, there was an Orc commander with, gasp, a decent grasp of tactics (!!!), and oh oh oh, the Oliphaunts sequence is forever burned into my brain. WOW.


Another good thing is that the faculty seem to've taken me seriously when I told them that their receiving the exam scores and being able to leave for vacation would be contingent on how the office staff was treated during gift-giving season. :)

eep! we are supposed to go to ROTK tonight, but i dunno. the boy doesnt get out of work intil six, and frankly id much rather go on a weekend so i can be home at a decent hour. before i was like, "must... see... opening... day!" but now it gets so late that im like, "fuck it!" but im still excited. peter jackson has been my god ever since heavenly creatures.

Hey, I RoTK'd last night too, up at the Burlington Mall. V. Cool, and I agree whole heartedly about the Oliphaunts. Talk about watching tactics develop on the fly.

Other than the ending - and the fact that I always pictured Sam's character arc as being a rise from common sense and prosaic wisdom to heroism, rather than a sort of weepy, loyal puppy arc - I thought it was first-rate. Faramir riding out? Whuf. I almost cried.
