"Apocalypse?" "Yeah, the idea just garou on me."

So I admit it, I was curious, I broke down and picked up a copy of "Apocalypse", and I'm reading my way through it.

So far...well...

Like the other books in the line, there's no one Apocalypse, there are four possible scenarios. Okay, whatever, fine.

First scenario, Wyrm, Banes, lots of Umbral foo. Some good ideas. I'm down with it.

Second scenario talks about how potentially the Apocalypse could be brought on by one of the Tribes falling to the Wyrm or the Weaver. So it's actually a bunch of much smaller scenarios as they go through the possible downfall of each tribe.

Q: What about the totem each tribe has? Wouldn't that totem object?

A: Yes, so we also hypothesize the totem would be attacked on all three fronts. A direct attack, an attack on its tribe, and an attack on the things its symbolically linked to.

Q: Symboliwha Linkedibuh?

A: Yes! We have a handy little chart. Lessee...so if, for example, the Wyrm was targetting Griffin, it would assault (checks page) Rome, Christ, and Lowenbrau beer.

Q: *Just stares*

A: Don't look at me like that.

Q: How about Cockroach?

A: Yes! Cockroach, symbolically linked to Kafka, radioactivity, and filth & squalor.

Q: You're making this up.

A: No! Well, yes! But it's published!

Q: So if we notice the Wyrm suddenly attacking grimy parts of cities and making them very CLEAN, it's a bad sign?

A: Or it might be the Weaver. We have a whole page on tribes falling to the Weaver, you know.

Q: Yeah, about that...tell me again how the Weaver would corrupt the Fianna?

A: Through, um, *mumbles* an infectious song.

Q: You expect a GM to tell her players that the Apocalypse has been triggered by a catchy tune?

A: If they've heard "Hey Ya" enough times they'll totally buy it.

Yes, yes I do (no, it's not the Badgers)

'Hey-Ya' is the Devil incarnate. *shudders* Totally plausible concept that it would be the catalyst for the Apocalypse.

I am happy to announce that I have never heard "Hey Ya" in my life. Go me, for rarely listening to Popular Radio!

What makes me sad is that [livejournal.com profile] tenzil was involved and was very proud of his work in this. :)

I'm not sure how to take it now! :)

Oh dear!

FWIW, the two things I mentioned were both in boxes set apart from the rest of the chapter. I couuld happily believe that they're last minute bits the editor threw in when some artwork didn't show up (or, if it was SCAR, if the art was too bad to use).
