Nov. 2nd, 2002 07:04 pmUgh.
The big Nanowrimo writing get-together was at the Diesel at 10 this morning. I showed up at Diesel at 10:15, and the line was literally out the door--not a seat in the house.
"No prob," think I, "it's because of all the Nano folks. Surely Carberry's won't be as crowded."
But it was.
"No worries," think I, "it's all the Tufts students. I'm almost at Porter--surely the little cafe by Hollywood Express will have space."
But did it, gentle reader? No, it did not. And neither did the Starbucks further down the road, or the three coffeeshops in Harvard Square itself. I was on my way to the library in desperation when I spotted an empty table in the Starbucks on Broadway, and grabbed it. At this rate, by the end of the month I'll have written 50,000 words, visited 90 coffeeshops and walked 25 miles.
