Huh.

Never had someone leave "I hate you" as a voicemail message before.

Huh.

On the brighter side, I am *not* flunking Japanese (though I need to seriously knuckle down and learn my verbs and adjectives). The teacher even dropped off the video the class watched while I was out last Thursday, so now when I want to take a writing break tonight I can watch "Big Bird in Japan".

Nanowrimo update: I'm getting a bit (ha!) Virgo-obsessive about my word count, so I think I'm going to try something different. There are Visions that play an important part in the story, and since they're folklore-based and twisted they're going to be a blast to write. I was going to be frugal and compose them at the appropriate point in the story, but why wait? This *is*, after all, what cut & paste was invented for.

I'll crank them out tonight and tomorrow and hopefully a) give myself enough of a cushion that my left brain shuts up and stops hitting 'tools-word count' every paragraph, and b) discover when I'm done that my muse*/right brain/subconscious has left some fun Easter eggs to toss around in the story.

Which, despite all the kvetching, I'm having a blast with. This writing by the seat of the pants stuff...when it works, it's like wandering through the house and unwrapping presents everywhere. Who knew?

*Who I picture as Elwood Blues from the Blues Brothers. Wandering around the room while I write, poking in the fridge, looking out the window at the joggers. For I am twisted.

Big Bird in Japan

I was just talking about that movie with a friend last night. Back when The Disney Channel was cool and kitschy, they used to play it all the time. *sigh* The good ol' days.

Did the caller hate you in your personal or professional capacity? Or was it even directed to you? Either way, I would imagine such a message would be unnerving.

Can I study Japanese with you sometime? Onegai shimasu!

You terrify me with your descriptions of writing because you sound so.../writerly/. I keep thinking in some small, plaintif, insecure part of my mind, "I usually think of myself as a writer...at least kind of...but not like /that/."

You go.

Well, he seemed to chuckle a little bit at the end, and he had a German/Eastern European accent. So it's possible that I'm being stalked by Alan Rickman's character from 'Die Hard'.

There are worse things.

Yes, yes you can study Japanese with me! Especially if you have a high tolerance for someone who clutches his notes like a lifeline.

And don't feel bad--I've been *describing* writing since I was eight. It's much, much easier than actually writing, and I've gotten quite good at it. :)

Oh, I wish. Hypnokitty comes from a friend of mine named Vicky. If I could only harness the power of his entrancing cuteness, I could rule....well, not the world, but at least Nova Scotia.
