Today's news 'buh?'

A man in Tanzania finds the corpse of his wife, who's been killed by a lion. He then loads the corpse with poison, goes home, and waits while the lion comes back, eats and dies.

What's wrong with this picture?

Serious case of "an eye for an eye"...

Well, that I can understand. Getting a gun, dynamite, setting out traps... but dosing your spouse's corpse with poison?

For that matter, did all this happen close to the house? Or was he walking around with a pocket full of lion-killing poison?

Good questions. It's strange, that I can admit. Maybe he was corrupted by grief or maybe he was just plum crazy.

but the poor lion was just hungry and the human probably deserved to be eaten anyways....

I wonder if the marriage existed within a romantic context. And I wonder how inured the folks in this area are to lions eating people they know.

Or maybe he's just a scary sociopath.

Well, that officially qualifies as a "WTF?!" story. Lions that become man eaters tend to be older or injured. Poor thing was just doing what it could to survive and it would have probably wound up dead in six months anyway. :/

And how the heck did he know that it would be the same lion? They have been known to be scavengers on occassion.

Well, I can understand wanting to get the thing that ate my wife. No questions there. Something kills someone close to me, it's not long for this earth.

The way he went about it seems logical, if a little bizzarre. It might not have been the same lion, but there's a good chance it was. Depends on where the body was found and how many lions are typically around, I guess.

And, as to the lion's motivations, they're irrelevant. Screwing with humans is demonstrably NOT a survival trait. Mr. Lion was destined to follow his lunch to the big savannah in the sky.

Well, that's what he says. Maybe he killed his wife first, then left her out for a lion to eat. Or do lions like to kill their own food?
