Movie notes:

Amid all the carnage, possibly my favorite quote from a critic about Catwoman comes from the Jeffrey Lyles of the Maryland Gazette: "It makes me long for the quiet dignity of Arnold Schwarzenegger's performance in Batman and Robin."

D and I just finished watching Seven Chances, which for my money is the best Buster Keaton ever: a lot of close-up emotional work followed by an amazing chase sequence and DAMN I wish I could run like him. It's not even his speed, it's just what a dramatic blur he can make his little arms and legs flail at. His feet emote more than my whole body.

I saw 'King Arthur' today. Um....something positive, look for something positive...the costuming was nice, and I'm sure when the uncut version is released on DVD it'll make much more sense. (Though the Saxon leader will probably continue to remind me of Dave's character from 'Knights of the Dinner Table', both in how he handles morale and his ability to form decent battle plans.)

My local paper actually gave the movie a good review, along the very strange lines of "this movie is an odd pangyric to modern feminism." (Yes, the reviewer's full of crap.) Rotten Tomatoes, however, indicates that the entire rest of the world totally disagrees with my local paper.

Feet emoting. What a concept. This is why I call you my friend.
I saw King Arthur too. My friend called and said, "Do you want to see King Arthur?" And of course, me being the person who has 16-18 King Arthur related books all lined up in a row on my shelf, I said, "Of course!" but since I have been busy I hadn't really seen the previews or anything, so I had no idea what to expect.
It was...strange. I mean, there were some good parts, but I was a little mystified by some of it. Even though I am a girl and therefore should be automatically more inclined to like it because it featured at least a couple of cute guys, I was...a bit disappointed.
But hey, Spider-Man 2 rocked my world. So I can't totally complain about recent movies! :)

I was at the movies last night with my friends, and instead of seeing Spiderman 2, which I heard was great, but havent seen yet, I was dragged along to see King Arthur again. This gave me a chance to get a better look at costumes and such, and decide that if it wasn't supposed to be based on the story of King Arthur, but just a random fantasy type flick, it might have been ok. After it was over, the person responsible for dragging us to see it apologized profusely.
