-While walking Toby, we met a big white poodle who totally ignored Toby but was wild about me. Even hopped up to lick my cheek. I think I'm getting better at reading dog body language--when Toby rolls his shoulder and cocks his head while turning away, it means "Oh god, what a slut".
-On the way to work, D and I saw a red-tailed hawk ERUPT out of a thicket with a crow right after it, both of them flying hell-for-leather into another group of trees.
And here's an example of how different people perceive things differently:
THE UPBEAT MORNING PERSON: Wow! What a brave crow, taking on that predator by himself!
THE GRUMPY-BEFORE-CAFFEINE NIGHT PERSON: God, crows are loud and annoying! Look at it, forcing that hawk toget out of bed go where it doesn't want to--I hope it gets its ass kicked!
-Closer to work, Mama Goose was off her nest, and I got to see her four big eggs! By the time I got my camera out she'd covered them with down so they'd stay warm while she took a brief swim. Gestation time's 28-30 days, so that means one more week 'til babies!
