Sep. 9th, 2004 09:50 amMy Mom's only sibling, Robert, has died.
I wish I'd known him better. I'd met him maybe 4 or 5 times--he lived in Florida and didn't really like Dad that much, so visits weren't too common. I just have the impression of a big guy with lots of aftershave and a fifties-style haircut.
Mom seemed to resent him a little, as the one who escaped and created his own life while she lived with Nana and dealt with the family craziness on a daily basis. There are parallels there with my sister and myself that I don't really feel like examining too closely.
Dad hasn't gotten back to me yet with information about the funeral...*any* information, really. He was staying up in Maine for the summer and visiting Nana at the nursing home every day, and it's traditional for family members to use the little cemetary in our hometown...but on the other hand, he was a Floridian Jehovah's Witness. Anything's possible.
This is me typing an entry when I don't really know what to say. ("As opposed to all those other entries?", you say. Yeah, yeah.)
