My forehead hurts from head-butting my girlfriend's father.

Not intentionally...he went for a goodbye hug, I, surprised, misjudged the distance, and *smack* to the side of his head. He ignored the whole thing. Maybe he didn't even notice it. He's tough.

It's been a carb-free, wine-heavy day. (Which might explain some things about this post.) We're down south trying to help D's mom, she of the new bionic knee, be comfortable and happy and enjoy both the six hours of physical therapy she has to do each day and the first week of her South Beach diet. Heh. I think that by head-butting her ex-husband, our job here got a bit easier. Now if I just wait 'til D's asleep and smuggle her in a fresh hot buttered roll, I'll get written into the will.

Off-topic: "yeti" is apparently the Sherpa word for "that thing there". I love it.

It's okay, I accidentally *bit* one of my former classmates on the cheek when giving her a goodbye hug and laughing on the last day of class. She also pretended to not notice.
Physical contact is complex.

I heard (and have told) a similar story about the definition of 'kangaroo' (that it meant "I don't know.").

Alas, Kangaroo apparently means 'a kangaroo' (http://www.randomhouse.com/wotd/index.pperl?date=20010614) and Yeti means rock animal (http://library.thinkquest.org/10131/tibet_yeti.html).

I do like the other stories better, though.

I seem to think you did email me, but I managed to delete it before realizing it in my junk mail filter. So, heh... if you could try again... I promise to at least read it first this time.. :)

"That Thing There"

Ohhh, my sides hurt.

It reminds me of one of my favorite Terry Pratchett moments, in The Light Fantastic I believe, where he observed that explorers used to just point to things and ask the natives what they were, which led to instances where mountains received names such as "Your Finger You Fool."

Heeeee!
