What's the term for the way some people get in wintertime, where going outside starts to seem appalling and the world becomes focussed around having a full belly, thick blankets and a cozy apartment? Whatever it is, I think I'm feeling a case of it.

On the other hand, it's the first part of a blizzard outside, I'm just back from a day of classes (improv in the morning, broadsword & shield in the afternoon), I'm achy from aforementioned schooling, and there's a bottle of really nice scotch and the extended version of Return of the King sitting on the kitchen table. Oh, and a good-looking woman, the second season of Monk, and some chinese food in the living room. So maybe I'm just thinking sensibly.

Both classes kicked ass, btw. I had a mental post all composed last week about how intimidating some of the other members in this improv class were (two of them are in actual improv troupes, and two others do stand-up regularly, and ALL of them seem to be obsessed with puppets for some reason. It's odd), and how either we'd gotten a much higher level of student or I'd gotten much worse since the last one, but this week we all seemed to be on a more even ground, and I seemed to hit the funny--apparently my portrayal of a transvestite cruise ship performer putting on "age drag" for a lounge of old lady fetishists struck folks as being well-rendered. Hey, it's a gift.

For the fight class, [livejournal.com profile] coscaram and [livejournal.com profile] fightguy showed us some of the more clever ways to whack each other with heavy flat things. God, they're fun to watch. I had the luck of having another leftie there, [livejournal.com profile] conman711, and the two of us got, if I do say so myself, good at taking what we'd just seen two right-handed people to do, running it through our 'mirror image' filter and coming up with the proper sequence. I only hope, being younger and fitter, his right shoulder isn't aching like mine's starting to.

Good luck to anyone out there in the northeast who has to travel today--I'm glad I'm not you!

I think "hibernation" is the word you're looking for.

I'm about to make me a midori sour, cook some brownies, and then watch Whale Rider after finishing my looney toons.

BTW, I'm going to be making cookies soon...hehe

Oh brian it was such a reilief to have another lefty there let me tell you. and I agree I think we did quite well mirroring an entire fight set. Luckly my right shoulder isnt killing me yet, but my left is acking just a bit but some ibprofine, and a shower, and a alot of liquids I should be ok. Are you doing any of them next week?

Hibernation is goooood.

On the other hand, I kind of miss having a bit of snow to shovel.

Clearly I am a strange being from another planet. But don't tell, ok?

Hibernation is winter appropriate, but I also think of 'cocooning', which can be at any season.
