As other Pastimers have mentioned, yesterday involved the post-performance oddness--that feeling of loss when something that's been occupying a large portion of your time and brainpower isn't there anymore. Even during the walk home from work, I kept getting the urge to go over my lines (and each time I did, the little [livejournal.com profile] ronsonbeck on my shoulder yelled "Oh, why start NOW?"), or check the weather forecast again, or buy some gum so patrons wouldn't get smelly-breathed, or...or...or.

I also get these little flashes of fantastic memories, things I hope I'll never lose.

The way the crowd went nuts on Saturday during the final fight when Arthur caught Excalibur out of midair, the two little girls to my left jumping up and hugging each other like drunken Red Sox fans;

the elderly women with Downs Syndrome on Sunday in the Bell Tower, coming out of their shells and interacting with Frank and Rachel's puppets;

the way [livejournal.com profile] maveenroute totally derailed that school field trip on Friday, architecture to cake-designing-by-committee in ten seconds.

And about 95 others. Magic. Distracting while I'm trying to drive, but magic.

I had three families meeting each other for the first time on Saturday, Pastimes and Phoenix Swords and my "real" one, my sister & her kids--all on a day with pouring rain and thunderstorms in the official forecast. Stress? Ho ho, it is to laugh. I've been trying to think of a wedding metaphor, but I can't figure out whether I was the bride or groom, who my partner would've been...and at any rate, the thought that THIS is my honeymoon is a grim one. Nah, better skip it. Maybe I was the Beast during an Avengers/X-Men crossover? Hmm.....that works a lot better. And the fact that they all got along and united to defeat Weathro, Master of Slippery Unsafe Footing felt good. DAMN good.

Anyhow. Back to work and figuring out how to fill my time.

But who gets first crack at the cookie jar?

I know what you mean about those "worlds collide" moments, they are scary and wonderful and cause the butterflies in your stomach to dance around in cleats.

Hope all the siblings get along ;-)

I'm really sorry we missed it. The confluence of erectile dysfunction and grading hell has just been like a giant brick wall to anything like being social.

If you had 3 families meeting, wouldn't it be more like you were like unto, um, Alexander Luthor meeting with the heroes of Earth-1, Earth-2, and Earth-S? Or, um, let's see... maybe The Tick in an Avengers/Justice League/The Authority crossover?

Oh, I'd *love* to see The Tick interacting with the Authority folks. He has a habit of popping up in my imagination whenever I'm reading/watching something that takes itself too seriously. Like John Barth's "The Magus", or George Lucas's most recent movies.

Midnighter: You're annoying.

The Tick: Yes, inDEED!

Midnighter: *punches The Tick in the mouth*

The Tick: I am NIGH-invulnerable!

Midnighter: ow. Apollo, kick his ass.

*Superman-level scuffle ensues*

Apollo: He has such a tiny ass, Midnighter. I keep missing it somehow.

The Tick: Apollo, ol' buddy ol' pal! Let's do buddy things!

Apollo: Save me.

The Tick: *to Midnighter* You can hang out with the other sidekicks!

Midnighter: *outraged* "Other sidekicks"?

Other sidekicks: Yeah, dude, the way that one artist draws you, you have, like, the ultimate pouty lips.

Midnighter: Save me.

The Beast metaphor is an excellent one. He was in the Defenders for a while, too, if my memory serves.
