As I type this I'm staring at Steve 1, who came out of her cocoon sometime today. She's purty. She's a Cecropia Moth with a red (!) body and brown/grey wings with gorgeous patterns, and she's big! I estimate maybe a 5-inch wingspan. Of course my camera decided that this would be the perfect time to run out of batteries (it probably saw the hawk fly two feet over my head this morning and thought to itself, "Oh, I give up"), but pics soon, I promise.
Now please cross your fingers that Steve 2 a)hatches soon, and b)turns out to be male!
