Dear Self,

When joining a LARP and creating a character, designing him as a timid little information-gatherer with no combat skills is not necessarily a bad thing. It isn't even necessarily bad to sink a lot of energy and resources into a piece of property he owns and social contacts in his hometown.

But before you do so, it might maybe possibly be a good idea to consult a magic 8-ball and ask it, oh, "Is a huge army going to drop out of the sky and omgwtfPWN!!1! my hometown and the rest of New England between my first game and my second?"

Just as a random example.

Er. Shouldn't the GM be responsible and say, "Hey, maybe you want some combat skills in there?"

Your character sounds *so* much like my "I am not a ninja" medieval japanese girl looking for a husband. You stand there, look for a table, hide. I'd suggest working on the "defensive" skills since no doubt the other characters are combat bricks.

So, your timid little information gatherer simply goes to work for the Huge Army, feeding their leader tidbits of info while hinting of much deeper secrets that you might be able to uncover with just a liiiittle more freedom/resources/personal power, until all is in readiness and you topple him in a near-bloodless Machiavellian coup, seizing the reins of power and naming yourself Imperator [livejournal.com profile] oakenguy I.

Not that I've ever done that sort of thing myself...

You should play in the Mage venue. Or Requiem. But probably in Mage.

Well, it's the Camarilla. And with huge nation-wide LARPs you get huge nation-wide events...I'm willing to guess the local GMs were just about as blindsided by this as I was.

And to be fair, I'm a brand-spanking-new character in the World of Darkness where the End Times have apparently started. Even twinked out with as many combat skills as I could find, I'd still reasonably have the life expectancy of a freshman at Sunnydale High.

And he's not as useless as all that. While he has no combat skills he has a lot of social skills that will make him very useful - and mortal influence which will allow us to consolidate our forces and our people.

He just doesn't quite realize it yet ;)

btw Bri, Shay's house. She's expecting you and everyone else for that matter.

Changeling is a low death venue. We're at a level 2 warning of 50% risk of death or "badness" at the moment. The ST's usually prefer badness. So as long as you're careful, you should be okay. The ST's are fortuantely not in this to kill people as much as they are for story (praise be to whatever God listened)
