Oh, wow. Okay, folks, help me keep on track here: I absolutely cannot buy any more CDs until...oh...June. This is getting ridiculous.

Here's what happened: I was flush with cash (by my ridiculously low standards: last night I took my full change jar to the supermarket CoinStar), so I went to the used CD store at lunchtime to look for *one* CD.

Did I find it? No.

Am I now broke? Yes.

Do I now own a compilation of Scottish rock music by bands I've ever heard of? The Jane Siberry anthology? A boxed set of world music bought mostly because I couldn't resist songs with descriptions like "African kora meets German jazz fusion", "Harmonica blues from Estonia", and (my alltime favorite) "Japanese banjo player Akira Satake goes Celtic"?

Yes, yes, YESSSS!!!!

Argh.

Bad Oaken. Oaken shows no restraint.

(Those CDs sound very weird and something like what [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano would like, though. :)

Hahaha wow! I don't think I would be able to resist those descriptions either. :) I'm sitting here thinking wow, he should make me a compilation CD that'd be cool! ;)

What's the Scottish compilation? I've had good luck with Scottish bands (I'm listening to the Blue Nile now), so I'm always looking for more....

It seems to be a companion disc to the 2000 NEMIS (New Music in Scotland) festival in Glasgow. Bands with names like Widescreen, Horse, Biffy Clyro, Rotary Ten vs Das Beat...and, oh fun, the liner notes include e-mail addresses for most of the bands! Definitely "up-and-comers".

Hee! Let me make sure the quality of the music is as good as the descriptions, and you've got a deal.

Do you have any pics of your wings on your website? (He asks, not having learned any lessons about the importance of saving money today...)

As for Wings...

The business site is still under construction, but in the mean time you can see the pictures my photographer friend was kind enough to take and post in her gallery (http://www.spaceling.net/gallery/q5designs/). If you want a pair you should let me know what sort of patern you'd like or even give me a picture since every pair I make is different. :)

Never heard of any of them, I'll have to look around for it.
