Jeezum crow, ten days since my last post?

The days, they fly. In my drum class this week we learned a song with a swing beat. These days, it feels like my life is moving to that beat. It's quite nice. (And the superstitious part of me worries that I've jinxed it just by mentioning it).

What have I been up to? Lessee...

I have two swordfights, with [livejournal.com profile] temperlj and [livejournal.com profile] piratetaranee, that have a good blend of comedy and flashy-yet-safe moves, to learn before Phoenix Faire in May. (That's www.phoenixfaire.com ...it's going to be great! Plug, plug, plug...) Progress = good.

I have 1400 truffles to make for that same faire, as well as licenses to get, a booth to create, yadda ya. Progress = slow...the mandatory state Food Handling class is Tuesday ($200, *cha-ching!*), but after that, things should go well. I just ("just", ho ho) have to make 200 truffles a week.

Taiko, the aforementioned drum class, going well. I have a little drumstick blister on each hand now, which means....well...I'm not sure what, exactly, but it seems significant. Sending out mp3s of the songs so we can listen and practice at our desks through the week was genius on their part. Progress = good.

Writing project done and sent off...trying to flesh out an idea for a one-act play, but keep stopping and going "wait, that's a comedy sketch". Progress = slow.

Fitness-wise, I've joined the local Y and been going regularly...D and I have actually had a competition to see who could reach a certain goal first, the contents of our change jar being the prize, and I won! The change jar was a huge one, too...the fruit of this labor, which I've named BriPod, sits beside me right now uploading 'Urinetown the Musical' off iTunes. Progress = steady.

And then there's just the whole Spring thing, which makes me feel like bouncing around like a bunny at a Barenaked Ladies concert.* Leaves! Grass! Walking around outdoors without my nose running! (Seriously, when you have a nose the size of mine, winter SUCKS.)

So that's the summary. Expect things to get back to their normal stream-of-consciousness blather with the next post.

*No, I don't have any idea what that means either.

Dude... it's a ren faire in MA that doesn't charge $20+ per person. I think that might be in the cards... :) Yay for reasonably priced ren fun complete with an Oakenguy!

And I feel you on the spring thing... and even vaguely can explain the bunny thing (with all those people hopping around happily, the bunny would *have* to hop a lot to avoid being squished!). The nice air makes me want to run around outside :)

I've found the blisters simply mean you are using the varnished sticks and are sweating enough to make your skin soft. I might mean you are holding the sticks to firmly, but I'm betting that's not it.

I highly recommend making your own sticks from a oak dowel. You can buy them at home depot, with a little searching. The lack of varnish makes it much less likely for slight damp skin to stick and blister. I love my bashi a whole lot and have been using them for almost 6 months now.
