Plug plug plug: this Sunday I'll be performing and selling truffles at the Medieval German Faire (www.phoenixfaire.com) out in Western Mass; not to jinx anything, but there've even been rumors in the news about a big ball of orange gas appearing in the sky that day!

I've been having fun on babelfish, getting very bad German translations of my truffle flavors. Chocolate with peppermint chunks becomes "Schokolade mit pfefferminzklumpen", Dark chocolate in a chocolate shell becomes "Dunkle schokolade in einen schokolade oberteil", and in my favorite translation, Espresso dark chocolate turns into "Espressodunkelheitschokolade".

Ha, yes, the german language is structured so that multiple words that relate to a singular concept, such as "espresso dark chocolate", becomes one word. "Espressor" and "dark" both have directly to do mit schokolade, er, I mean, with chocolate. I think it's really cool that the German language works this way, because it allows for the expression of abstract concepts, and what you must say using three or four words in English, the Germans have a single word for.

German is such a crazy language, words are a thousand miles long :).
I want some truffles :(, so many of my friends write about their wonderful cooking abilities and since most of them live abroad I can never sample their food myself, it is a cruel world *Cries*.

you know, that's exactly how I expected all those words to appear in German. It is terribly sad that there is finally a German faire and Gustav can't make it! :(

Sounds like a blast. I wish I lived closer.
Have you ever been to Rothenburg? you'd love it.

It saddened me, too! I'd say it would've been better with your presence, but heck, that's true about almost anywhere. :)
