This used CD addiction is really getting out of hand. D and I stopped in another store on Friday. I now own two Gregorian Chant albums, TMBG's 'Factory Showroom', a PDQ Bach CD, Volume 3 in the 'Pavarotti's Opera Made Easy' series, and a 2-CD collection of Indian pop tunes.

I almost scored a CD of the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack sung in various non-English languages, but the clerks had somehow lost the actual disc. I was really, really looking forward to hearing 'Rose Tint My Soul' in Finnish.

(FWIW, Indian pop tunes are so bouncy and infectious they make my neck hairs crinkle. It's almost impossible for me to listen to them without breaking out with Goofy White Guy arm motions. I'm getting better, though.)

I *should* be getting ready for two auditions now. But one set of people has yet to send me the script I should be auditioning from, and the other has yet to tell me exactly where the auditions are. Whee!

Last night D and I went to see 'The Black Pirate', redone with a new score played onstage by the Alloy Orchestra. It was a hoot! BP was the first color feature film, and really started the whole pirate movie genre. It also gave Douglas Fairbanks a chance to show off his body and sexiness and swordfighting/gymnastic ability. which was impressive. It also contained fun gay subtest and the stupidest plan I've ever ever seen or even heard of for attacking a pirate ship!

Go on, guess. I guarantee this is dumber.

I love listening to PDQ Bach. I love playing it even more; when I was in high school, the concert band played PDQ Bach a couple of years -- it was so much fun!

Ours did, too, one year! Nothing wakes up a room full of bored band teens like being midway through a score and watching the clarinet section suddenly take off their mouthpieces and use them as duck calls.

I have that disc. "Rose Tint" is in accented English; "I Can Make You A Man" and "Over at the Frankenstein Place" are the ones in Norsk. Well sung, though.

ast night D and I went to see 'The Black Pirate'

OMG, that is so eerie; I sat down and watched it on video for the first time on Friday. It was so genre it made my teeth hurt, but I think the fact that it was a silent film caused it to be even more funny as [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano and I wound up adding our own dialogue track.

It was a pretty dumb pirate attack, though. :)
