Feb. 4th, 2003 09:13 amW00T! Audition #1 is done, and I'm in! At least, that's how it sounds...being me, I'm mentally replaying what the director said and trying to find the most negative possible spin to "We'd love to have you, welcome to the troupe." I mean, it *could* just be his very nice way of saying 'We'll call you', right?
It was frickin' terrifying. It didn't help that I was going after someone who came with two songs and an interactive story prepared, and before a semi-pro actor with headshots and references...I definitely felt like a kid on a Big Wheel at a biker rally, if you know what I mean. And my soft, barely-audible-four-feet-away voice did me NO favors. And my mouth? Dry like a desert.
But yet...somehow...despite all the evidence...they thought I didn't suck! They even asked if I'd be interested in stage combat training! Ye gods, if they had any idea what I'd be willing to pay *them* to take part in this...
I suppose I should mention what this actually was for, huh? Pastimes does Medieval/Rennie weekends at area castles and mansions. A King Arthur weekend, a Robin Hood weekend, a Henry VIII thingie...not to mention corporate events that sound like they get pretty diverse (they tested my improv skills as a pirate and a '20s gangster). Let's see...dress in garb, stage fights, act as over-the-top and overblown as possible...this Does Not Suck. Woo!!
