Jul. 7th, 2006 01:43 pmA couple observations from the trip to Inman and the library the other night:
*Dude, if your books are 18 days overdue and those books are Know Your Rights!, How to Keep From Getting Screwed by Your Own Lawyer, and A Reader's Guide to Unconstitutional Searches and Seizures, please, go ahead of me in line. You obviously have bigger problems than I do.
*I have a new favorite food!
discojesus took us to a place that serves a really good Brazilian fish stew called moqueca. It's so good that my stomach is literally rumbling as I type this.
Of course, a hedonist like me has multiple favorite foods...I'd rank this in between corn on the cob and Virginia ham. Which still...damn.
*I normally don't notice body language very much, but when there are two people on a bench and one person is sitting sideways, bare toes almost brushing the calf of the guy she's earnestly talking to as she looks at his face, while the guy sits with his arms and legs crossed and staring at the bricks on the sidewalk....OUCH. It honestly looked like they were taking an acting class and had been given the phrase "He's just not into you" and told to act it out physically. Ouch.
Speaking of that, I've done a little trimming of my friendslist. It's huge, and there were some people who I just didn't feel any connection with. Blame my short attention span; blame the anal, Virgo side of me that periodically crouches under burning bridges and has an annoying habit of keeping track of things like the ratio of holiday cards sent to ones received, and comments given to comments received. In short, if I took you off, you're probably better off without me.

Date: 2006-07-07 07:15 pm (UTC)Okay, better now. Must try this fish. Speaking of which, if you ever go to the international buffet in Quincy and have never tried the tilapia they always have there, I strenuously recommend it. It's full of bones, admittedly, but it's steamed with sesame and ginger and scallions and makes me understand why 'delicate' is praise.
And. The important question: are you still doing the taiko drumming? If so, can I come too? Tell me which day, and I'll try to make that the day I'm not in Waltham until 11. Or is there not a place for the completely inexperienced to just drop in?

Please describe this "moqueca" more thoroughly. I'm intrigued.
