Ohhhh, internet, I've missed you so much! Oh baby, don't ever go away like that again! Ohmigod ohmigod, just look at you! Were you always this colorful? Ohmigod, I just wanna open 28 windows at the same time, print them out and lay them flat on the floor and ROLL in them like a dog in goose poo. That's how much I love you!

Anyhow. Woodstock, Vermont. Not what I'm used to. Woodstock has:

* a llama farm
* a bookstore run by a big black cat named Mr. B
* a coffeeshop run by a 3-legged golden retriever, with a giant mural of their goldfish in the restroom (with a sign underneath saying 'Bob, 2006-2007. RIP')
* Drivers who'll stop, not just at crosswalks, but randomly so they don't spoil the picture you're taking of their covered bridge.

It's like the Gilmore Girls' hometown with more pricey boutiques, really. And of the five people I passed on the sidewalk, all five smiled and 3 of them _spoke to me_. Folks who aren't from Boston might not realize just how much this makes my head explode. David Ortiz and Bono could walk through Boston arm-in-arm handing out $100 bills and not get that much interaction with strangers. (We'd take the money, sure. But TALK? To STRANGERS?)

It's a little overwhelming to realize I'm probably the rudest person in four blocks. I feel unused muscles stretching as I compensate.

I haven't even mentioned 'Bernice and Barry's Pancake House' with 28 specials posted on the wall, each named after a local. And fresh cream and real VT maple syrup on the table.

I...I think I might want to retire here. Or check the water for drugs. Or both.

The Princess and I were just up there fairly recently. I used to live in that part of Vermont, and Woodstock is just a wonderful little gem of a town. Glad you enjoyed yourself. :-)

Bernice and Barry's.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
I vividly recall trying the "double blueberry" pancakes. (Blueberry pancakes with homemade blueberry preserves layered in between)

The bizarre thing is that when I moved up to Boston, I thought Boston was strangely, amazingly friendly. People made eye contact! Some of them smiled!

How odd our perceptions are, and how alienated we all are from each other.

I wanna go be that hug guy from the REM video.

Vermont is a great place. The people are really kind and friendly, as long as you don't try to tell them what to do. *grin*

hmmm...so why do I want to move back to boston for a social life??

FUCK!

Okay, I'd JUST sat down to have my FIRST cup of morning tea, and I start to scroll through the flist, and then you pull THIS shit. I need to Metaquote this. May I? Because I just cried off my fresh mascara laughing.

Bob 2006 - 2007 RIP. AHAHAHAHA.

DUDE. I was in that bathroom marveling at the mural of Bob. Did you try their Aztec hot cocoa? Fab.

If you're still up there, go to Sugarbush Farms (just north outside of Woodstock) - absolutely fantastic stuff, and you can sample their jams, jellies, sauces, salsas, syrups, cheeses, and sausages as much as you'd like :D

Of course you can Metaquote!

This means, apparently, that I need to have my internet access taken away more often. Foo.

What were you doing in VT? (You know I'm behind on all the news right now!) Bf Dave lives in VT, and it's lovely there. I want to go visit him there again.

Metaquoted!

We spent a week's vacation camping* and hiking! D had never gone--sorta criminal since it's a neighboring state--and we wanted to do it up right. :)

*Camping, in this context, includes spending large amounts of time exploring nearby towns looking for the best pancakes.
