Hey folks in and around western Massachusetts: Pi-Con (www.pi-con.org) is this weekend!

It's highly fun in its own right, fun enough that Voltaire's coming for the second year in a row, but if that wasn't enough enticement I'm going to be on two panels: How NOT to Run a Ren Faire on Friday, and Marvel's 'Civil War': Trainwreck or Fiasco? on Saturday. (I came up with the title, btw.)

All that plus swordplay demos, Cecelia Tan, the Panel in the Pool, a Rocky Horror Picture Show performance...it's quite possibly more fun than West Springfield has ever seen. Ever.

I've finally been reading the Civil War stuff, and while mostly bad...some of it I actually like. Notably some of the Spider-man stuff. But I haven't read much beyond the main plotline and the Spider books yet, so we'll see.

But I do think that Civil War is a fine piece of literature compared to Infinite Crisis and 52.

Until you've taken a long, sad look at first Penance, and then at a reporter (and author's mouthpiece) yelling at Captain America for being 'out of touch' by not being on MySpace, you haven't really plumbed the depths of Civil War.
