Sep. 5th, 2003 01:05 pmPop culture things I like:
Even if it wasn't Alan Moore, even if there weren't engaging storylines, I'd still have bought 'Top 10' just for the art. Now there's 'SMAX', a spinoff mini-series with a different artist, set mostly in a fantasy/fairyland setting...and I love it just as much. I read it for the fourth time yesterday, and noticed cameos by Krazy Kat and Milk (of Milk and Cheese) walking down a hallway together. And I desperately want an LJ icon of Peter Rabbit, Max (of Sam and Max) and an unidentified Silly Symphonies bunny mugging the White Rabbit for his pocketwatch.
New, unexpected 'Sandman' comic! The whole Endless family! Very odd, yet somehow RIGHT, additions to DC history! Gaiman hasn't made my brain hurt like this in years. Yum.
For stress relief I've discovered playing 'Freedom Force' is wonderful. Kirby-style superheroes vs. goofy threats = fun. Watching my grumpy powerhouse (who looks and sounds like a blue aquatic Sean Connery) tear up a stoplight and smack a T. Rex with it was too satisfying for words. This weekend, giant ants.

Date: 2003-09-05 12:52 pm (UTC)This is a by-gods real Sandman comic book, just like the old days. Written by Gaiman, illustrated by some Portuguese guy, a teaser/excerpt for a hardcover graphic novel of new Sandman stories that'll be coming out soon.
