The honeymoon's VERY over with the city of Cambridge--our car got towed! Their street cleaners don't mess around. Oh, and the city uses three different towing services, but will not tell you that unless you specifically ask; they'll just name one of them and let you play Encyclopedia Brown until you track down your poor traumatized vehicle.

Oy.

Sure was a cute doberman at the impound yard, though.

In other news, finally caught Whale Rider and Matrix Revolutions. Still digesting both of them.

Thw only thing I'll say about Matrix is that my favorite moment of the whole movie was towards the beginning in the Merovingian's latex/goth/fetish club*, when we're seeing all these dancers looking sleek and dangerous and feral...

...and in the corner of the screen, just for a second, there's somebody wearing kitty ears. Not even dangerous-looking ones. Tabby ears. I think they were fluffy, too.

I loved it. 'Cuz there's ALWAYS someone who does a Bridget Jones and completely botches their outfit for a party like this. And it's usually me.

*Folks who've seen it, was there a dance or club sequence in 'Bound' with folks writhing all over each other? I'm starting to wonder if it's something the Bros. toss in each of their movies, maybe as a treat for the crew.

That's all I got.

Eeeew /towing/.

So I take it you need no help? I mean, with the final moving push?

Aieeeee, towing. I had my car towed once, in Somerville, and *that* was nightmare enough, trying to *find* the freaking impound yard...

It's so *nice* of the city of Cambridge to be so *kind* and *helpful* about you paying through the nose to get your car back. Sigggh.

Nope, no club sequence in Bound...almost the whole movie takes place in the apartment building. GOOD movie, though. I have to rent it with Mike sometime...

<i?Revolutions</i>, which I found disappointing as a whole, had several sequences that smacked of unoriginality. In addition to the club scene, the shootout at the entrance to said club reminded me far too much of the Shootout in the Lobby from the first movie. Only not as good.

D'oh. Apparently, I messed up some html in that reply. And I can't edit it. Grr...teach me not to re-read. Anyway, the second paragraph was supposed to begin with the word, "Revolutions".

I'm happy to say that there is no push, per se. If Rose House's move was an avalanche, ours is the gentle snowfall that lasts six weeks and bankrupts the state. :)

*nervous, sheepish smile* An avalanche we'd never have survived without you!

Oh, please! You had everything under control; I just moved a few boxes from point A to B. And drank a lot of your water. :)

Loooooooooved it. Partly because of NZ-based and Kiwi-philic friends who've described Maori culture, so that every now and then I was seeing customs that I'd heard described and going "Oh, so THAT'S what it looks like." Partly because the Uncle and his cronies were so darn lovable. And partly 'cuz the imagery at the climax was just so, so amazing.

Kinda like mine. I liked it better that way.

I'll take the hint and stop asking, but seriously, if you want random people to come over and commisserate and be helpful, well, I'm around. (And a student, so I have more time.)

:-)

We really, really do appreciate it. And depending on how easily the cleaning goes once we get the place empty, you might regret the offer. ;)

Regret? Not really. I /like/ cleaning. (Up to a certain point, after which I run screaming into the night.)
