Feb. 20th, 2004 02:06 pmI like the fact that hawks are doing so well in Boston that I see one at least once a week. I saw one circling over the Fens yesterday after work, spiralling against the gold and rose sunset.
I like the fact that Krispy Kreme is moving into the Prudential Mall, a ten minute walk from where I work.
But do I like the fact that the cheapest price I can find for the Muppet Treasure Island soundtrack is $34.98? No sir, I do not!

Date: 2004-02-20 01:14 pm (UTC)Disney was trying to buy the Muppet Company 15 years ago, but then Jim died and the deal was never made. They were just recently repurchased by the Henson kids from E.M. TV, a media group from Germany, who went bankrupt after spending their money on race cars or something.
They just announced the deal with disney the other day and it only covers the Muppets themselves, not the company

Date: 2004-02-20 11:30 am (UTC)Don't like it. The place is EVIL, especially when it's making hot doughnuts NOW. :)
I live about a block from KK. When the wind is blowing right (which is most of the time), the smell of frying dough and sugary syrup greets me as I step out the door. It smells pretty good, but it does get old after a while. :)

Date: 2004-02-20 11:53 am (UTC)The live in the field near my work. Sometimes I see them catch pigeons. They are totally beautiful and it's nice to have a bit of nature in the city.
And as far a KK goes -- UGH! I had had them out of state and LOVED them. When they came here I went to the Wellington store 4 times in the first week. But that was bad... I totally over did it and now I feel ill if I even see one of their donuts.
And the soundtrack? That is just wrong, there must be a better way.

Date: 2004-02-20 12:11 pm (UTC)And $34.98 for the Mupppet soundtrack. Talk about your muggings!
Hawks are cool too! Circling the Fens? Must be waiting to feast on some YANKEES!!!
All better now.

Date: 2004-02-22 07:28 pm (UTC)Actually, my first sighting of a hawk in the city was on top of George Washington's hat in the Public Garden, eating a pigeon he'd just caught. I'm not sure if it was a political statement or just a nice warm perch.

Date: 2004-02-20 02:36 pm (UTC)As for the soundtrack, that's just fucking asinine. Have you tried ebay? Are you morally opposed to Kazaa? Unless that CD is made out of gold, you should be able to get it at a reasonable price. Have you tried the official Muppet website?
That's just bizarre. Jim Henson would be mortified. *clutches her copy of the Muppet Movie soundtrack on vinyl tightly*
