Just went over 10,000 words. (10,072, not that the numbers are etched onto my retinas or anything). Woo. I may not be able to do anything about the elections, my friends' awful job situations or the rain, but at least I can warp the first couple chapters of Genesis badly enough to make fundies' heads explode, should they ever read it.

It's an odd thing: the main character in one of my plot threads is a scumbag named Mod who I started out using just for some catharsis (and also because the whole online chatroom/IM world is too fun to resist sticking into the story). I mean, seriously, he's what the Angel writers call "schmuck bait", and every page I type brings him closer to his Awful Fate.

So why is this twit far and away the most fun character to write?

Because in real life, there is no guarantee that schmucks get their comeuppance. You have every bit of control over this guy, down to his final thoughts as he meets whatever deliciously planned doom you've been thinking about.
