Oh, it's an interesting world.

Scientists are investigating a toddler with super-strength. They're very excited.

I've answered an ad by an artist who's looking for models.

Meanwhile, over in Sweden and eastern Russia, right now as I type this someone is milking a moose.

These tidbits of information provide a good balance for the utter mind-numbing boredom of 'Spoon River Anthology', which I've been reading through today in hopes of finding a monologue for the upcoming audition. Back in high school we performed a stage version for the one-act play festival, and a judge compared the production to "a very long sausage--you can cut into it at any point, and it'll look exactly the same." In hindsight, as I read the poems again, I think he was being kind.

In that case, stay far, far, far away from my audition!

I think part of the problem with our play version is that the director hated the soap opera-y poems with people killing and cheating and lying (you know, the INTERESTING ones) and cut them mercilessly, leaving us with the transcendental ones. Which, when recited in earnest, stilted monotones by high schoolers on a bare, black stage, is torture.

I had some witty comment about sausage and being kind, but forgot it waiting for this damn page to load.

I saw that thing with the kid. Funny how the mutation allowed them to discover something about people they couldn't have ethically found out otherwise.

A moose once made surprise appearance in a trip I made to Quebec during a blizzard. The snow cleared long enough for me to see we'd come within inches of hitting it. Yikes.

Yeah, the only year we did not make State finals was when we did Spoon River as well. In hindsight it was pretty boring compared to our better ones like An Evening For Merlin Finch (although I SMed for that) and Marat Sade (which we managed to get as far as Southeastern US finals with)

Have you considered An Actor's Nightmare? I dreamed you were in it last night

I was in Spoon River! I still have my little booklet and songs. I had 5 monologues even. :)

Did you get my email? I need the toner and paper to get your headshots printed out. The sooner the better too.
