So. The pinched nerve in my hip (NOT my butt, Harts do not get strange pains in their butts, thankyew) seems to have mostly gone away. I can lay down again. Yay.

Toothache which flared up suddenly for two days, also gone. Strange but good. Yay.

However.

This. poison. ivy.

Which seems to be in a RING around each ANKLE as if some sadistic PIXIE put ivy anklets on me as I SLEPT

IS

DRIVING

ME

NUTS!

It's better today, in that it takes actual friction to set it off. As opposed to Saturday night, when air molecules would do it. Now it's alright as long as I don't sweat the lotion away. Like, oh, say, while I'm walking. In the 94 degree heat. In which case every step I take irritates it.

Every.

Fucking.

Step.

Also, at least with bug bites I've had good luck with scrubbing the hell out of it in the course of a shower, then applying liberal amounts of aloe vera gel.

Two suggestions:
Piss on it. Really!

Go the seaside, rub beach sand all over it and then go wading and let the salt water dry it out. Make sure you go to a beach where the water is reasonably clean. This always worked for me.

get Tecnu and wash with it a lot. Do not scratch! You are ripping the skin and that is bad

And for the toothache, it helps if you take an advil or tylenol and put it between the tooth that hurts and the one below and bite down. The drugs go in faster that way because the nerve takes it in through osmosis

What Snowwand said. My wife swears by Tecnu. If she thinks she's even touched poison ivy, she washes immediately with the stuff.

Dombero's solution. Go to the pharmacy. Ask for it. It's a powder you dissolve in water. Smells like vinegar. Icky. Put on cotton balls, gauze or paper towels, prop feet up and slather. Just let it sit there. It will take the itch out and start to dry it up.

I promise.

I promise because I was in the hospital for two weeks with a severe allergic reaction to said poison ivy and it's what they put all over me along with pumping me full of steroids.

Ugh that was a miserable two weeks!
