Dear Pain Medication,

Yesterday we had things worked out. I won't pretend I was happy that you took about a half hour to kick in, but it was a workable system. In fact, we had it down to a science, and I was feeling pretty positive about life.

Today, though....is my posture different? Is it the digestion? Are your pills a few milligrams short? Because an hour and fifty minutes between taking you and feeling the first relief is just a wee bit too long. Not that I minded spending my lunch hour on the office floor because it was the most comfortable position I could find....except, well, I did.

KTHXBYE,
me

(Note to self: I should really clean the underside of my furniture more.)

Dear AOL Instant Messenger:

You've banned the usernames of two of my friends (that I know of), and no one can figure out why. What's up?

Puzzled in Peoria,
me

Well, that's just special. It deactivated several of my long-abandoned names the day after I looked them all up and popped online with them Just to See.

Ack, Oaken, hope you feel better.

Re: pain meds -->

Were the contents of your stomache different today then yest?
Oddly enough, I find mine kick in faster when I've eaten something than on an empty stomache. I think that's paradoxical, though, but I'd try experimenting...

Hope you feel better!!!

A good rule of thumb with pain medications is to take something that vasodilates (widens the veins) before them... caffeine is a good one, alcohol can be too (but mixing hooch and pain meds is bad sometimes).

Making sure your vascular system is open and ready to receive helps a bunch. Caffeine up to 20 minutes before meds is a good thing :)

Take meds with Coke(Coca-Cola), the bubbly gets into your systems faster, plus the caffeine is a booster too!

Get better!

My doctors recommend moving around bit, about twenty minutes after taking them. It gets the blood flowing and breaks up the lactic acid.

I hope you feel better!

Fortunately, my experience here is limited. But I hope you feel better. I'd also call the doctor and ask for gel caps or something. Get well, man!
