Oooooookay...

Grammer Is Beast In X-Men 3

Marvel entertainment chief Avi Arad told SCI FI Wire that Kelsey Grammer will plays Dr. Henry "Hank" McCoy/Beast in the upcoming third X-Men film and also confirmed earlier reports that Vinnie Jones has signed to play the villainous Juggernaut. Grammer, best known to audiences as TV's Frasier Crane, will play the blue-furred biochemist, whose strength and agility are matched by his genius intellect. Beast will play a prominent role in the third X-Men film, whose story is being kept under wraps.

I checked my list of Top 50 Adjectives for Kelsey Grammer, and you know what? "Agile" wasn't in there anywhere. I'm seeing lots of wire work in this man's future.

Oof. Wire work + a 3AM make-up call equals one cranky actor, too.

Or, you know, CGI fuzzball. But that's just an idea.

can you say stunt/movement double

for some strange reason, this makes sense to me.

Um. But I thought the Beast in the comics at least was a likeable guy...

Oh, well. Not like I've seen the most recent X-Men movie anyway. I probably won't see this one either.

Alan Cummings wasn't particularly X-men-like to start off with, and he pulled Nightcrawler off.
I'm not saying he'll be great, but he's got the voice for it. And there's always a chance they're going totally CGI on Beast.

Actually I can see it. The voice fits and the face would work as well. The movement/hanging upsidedown while reading Darwin might be a bit hard, but look what they managed with Nightcrawler and the little geek who played him. (I mean, come on. Geek from Tomb Raider, geek from Goldeneye, kickass demonesque hero from X-men?)

And on top of it all, we'll get to hear the Beast sing faux jazz! Or possibly show tunes.

All part of Kelsey's master plan to take over the role of Lancelot in "Spamalot"...

Beast singing show tunes is something I can easily imagine, though. At least, it's not the braintwist it took to picture 'Van Helsing's' Frankenstein Monster roaming the streets of Prague singing songs from 'Oklahoma'.

::dryly:: Gee might the plot have something to do with a phoenix. Maybe? Ya THINK? after the last movie???

Never.

I still want me a Gambit.

IMDB has a partial cast list putting the lovely Famke Janssen as Jean Grey/Phoenix.

It'll be interesting to see how they adapt the Phoenix storyline for the movie. Please God no aliens..!

I can certainly see Grammer as Hank McCoy. My assumption is, if they do the blue hairy Beast, it'll be a Gollum type jobbie, and Grammer will just be the voice, maybe base face model.

They just want his voice, don't they? Why not just pull a Vader if that's it?

Grammer

Hmmmnn....you don't think they will just switch to a CGI character that he voices when he becomes the full-blue & furry Beast? :/

I just can't see him having the physique or the agility to pull it off by himself...

So are they gonna be jacking him up with roids or what? Any other villians in the next film?

None mentioned so far. Personally, I'm really hoping for the Hellfire Club and/or Sentinels.

(Or Mojoworld. But only if Terry Gilliam directs.)

Mojoworld! Ooooooooooohhhh!!!

(I'm thinking about that New Mutants annual where Mojo hijacks Psylocke - oooooooooohhhhh!)

Yea, I definitely raised an eyebrow when I heard this news. Kelsey Grammer = The Beast. Just not seeing it. Stranger casting has happened I suppose (see Tom Cruise as the Vampire Lestat.)

The X-men movies haven't disappointed me yet though so I'll keep my hopes up! :-)
