Orange-flavored vodka is very strange, and I'm still a little dubious about flavoring my chocolate with it. We'll see how it tastes after it chills. If I'm still unhappy tomorrow morning, I'll just have to scrap the batch and whip up some raspberry-filled dark chocolates.

I know, the horror, the horror.

So, things in brief.

The sound of a tree falling onto my house: strangely like a very big plastic trash can being scraped down the sidewalk. Only with the house shaking. Which happens with very few trash cans.

The sound of the city's woodchipper at work at frelling MIDNIGHT: appalling. But the sight of the car of the neighbor-who-we-don't-like-very-much covered in wood chips this morning? Priceless.

The 'Decemberists' concert: Really, really good. They're like a strange cross between Reverend Glasseye and They Might be Giants. It was one of those concerts where everyone 6'2" and over in the city all seemed to decide to go and stand in front of us, but Deb, being a genius, found us a place to stand on couches in the balcony so that we had a good view, and cushiony things to lean against, too! And have I mentioned the band was very good? They were. If you only listen to one band use words like 'laudanum' and 'bagatelle' in their lyrics this year, make it The Decemberists.

This weekend: Chocolate sales at the benefit! Buffy sing-a-long! Performing some damn fine interactive comedy* at a faire on Saturday! Big gap after that until the Phoenix practice! Big big gap after that until work begins again on Tuesday! (I should work on filling in those gaps).

Right now: bed!

Wooooow, Reverend Glasseye X They Might Be Giants?? I haven't heard the Decemberists yet, but geeeeeeze they must be awesome.

... For some reason nearly every time I go to a concert some tall fat hicks corner me and squish me/stand in front of me. Even at shows were it makes no sense whatsoever for fat hicks to be at. *shrug*

i really want colin for my birthday. for some reason forest wouldn't give me that one gift. ::sigh::

i wish they'd played more deep cuts from their catalouge, and that they hadn't done the wretched, awful "song for myla goldberg". aside from that, it was amazing.

I LOVE the Decemberists! They remind me of Rev. Glasseye too (who I think is venturing out to Seattle soon, yay!). They (the Decemberists) were playing tonight in Brooklyn. I was going to go but it was sold out. Grrr!

Why vodka? Why not Grand Marnier? Certain brands of orange vodka taste better than others, but I think the flavor is still to weak to translate.

Personally, I'm having an urge to paint large mint leaves with couverture on one side. I'm assuming I'm getting this urge from you... ;-)

And... BUFFY SINGALONG?!?!?! WHERE?!?!? WHERE!??!!
You know I want to do this!

is your user name a reference to what i think it's a reference to?

*G* Depends on which reference...

If you mean the mesenchyme cell adhesion protein, in the basal lamina of the sea urchin embryo reference, then no, it was just a coincidence.

It's a little bit from Tam Lin, but mainly from a diminutive of my name (Pamela) that emerged over the past year.

i was talking about the similarity btwn "pamlin" and "tam lin". ^_- the story of "tam lin" is very important to me, which is why i asked.

Absolut Mandarin is fantastic... and I'll happily "dispose" of any unwanted chocolates made with orange vodka if'n they need disposal. :)

And the sight of an icky-neighbor's car covered in woodchips is wonderful. ;)

How does the orange flavored vodka compare to a real orange extract? Considering they have relatively the same alcohol content, I wonder.

Are you guys, and your neighbors, okay? Is the house okay?

I'm getting a new camera tonight and may need to go for a photo adventure if you want to fill a gap with me.

FWIW, when I'm doing orange-accented truffles, I use a few drops of orange extract in the ganache, stirred in while it's still hot. A little goes a long way and out of all the ones I make they get the best reviews. In your far-more-capable hands, I'm sure it'd be exquisite.
