So this weekend was full of performing at the Salem Pirate Faire! Which is almost impossible to describe without significant amounts of caffeine, so please hold.

(One mint mocha frappucino later...)

Oh my gods, the kids! One of them came Saturday in a pirate outfit as Tori the Terrible, and then was back on Sunday in a pink gown as Princess Tori. SO fun. She tried to arrest me at one point, and her mom discouraged her by saying "But ordinary crew won't earn you much money--you should be going after the Captains!" Which I immediately agreed with, playing the part of the littlest Billy Goat Gruff.

I was playing Mister Smee in his first day as a pirate, which coincidentally was Captain Vane's first day of getting a hook hand and becoming the dreaded Captain Hook. There were a ton of kids wearing little Captain Hook outfits with little fake hooks on their hands, which led to numerous photo opportunities, not to mention [livejournal.com profile] bellsm spreading the beautiful rumor that our show's hero was running amok through the faire amputating dozens of limbs. (Heh.)

Interacting was...well, it was interesting comparing the reaction between the kids here and at our other faires. Something about pirates seems to amplify kids' emotions. As a jester or Random Medieval Guy there's usually a pause while they figure out what's what; this weekend, they were either hiding behind their parents' legs, scowling at me and yelling "Arrrrrr!", or trying to run me through as soon as I got within five feet.

Ooh, lots of fun. Next year we'll make it there for sure.
