Oct. 10th, 2005 07:51 pmLost this post the last time I tried it, but the second time's the charm:
My Holiday Weekend, a tale in 5 parts:
1) Harvard had its big 'we have to empty two warehouses' costume sale, and by getting there right after they opened, I *scored*. I spent most of my money just at the hat table--I now have enough battered old derbies and top hats to do an entire production of 'Waiting for Godot'. The real find, though, was a full mask/hood of a black unicorn, in urgent need of repair:
Do I know how I'll repair him? Do I know what I'll do once he's repaired? These are silly questions.
2) D and I braved the downpour to be present at the wedding ceremony of two of my oldest friends,
akycha and
heavenscalyx! It was quite good, romantic and funny and mildly decadent where it needed to be (e.g., the wedding cake), the first pagan wedding ceremony I've been to, and it makes me want to have
callunav do the ceremony at some point in the future for *my* wedding. (This is problematic since I also want to have a ceremony done by
whaleomelette, and my Dad will get pouty if he doesn't get to perform one. Meanwhile D doesn't like the thought of *any* ceremony more complex than the clerk at City Hall handing us a form and offering to validate our parking. So, yeah.
3) Rehearsal with Phoenix Swords! I learned (well, began learning) a new fight, and we began gearing up for the Harvest Faire, which is going to be nine different kinds of special. Oh my.
4) Coming back from that, I was dragooned into being the guest of D and
discojesus as they experimented with local produce. Especially when you consider the size of the kitchen, the results were damn impressive.
5) This afternoon was Mirrormask! Which...loved it. Okay, the opening sequence wasn't the best (for one thing, full face masks on circus performers? UGLY ones?), but as soon as I saw the first sphinx-cat, I was hooked.
All that while fighting off a nasty head cold! Woo!
