Dec. 13th, 2005 01:23 pmThings I'm Currently Enjoying:
*My back feeling better--I got a full night's sleep last night, for the first time in a week! I'd almost gotten used to the 'up from 4 to 5, back to bed once the painkillers have kicked in, feel groggy next day' routine.
* 'The Last Lion', a biography of Winston Churchill. It's probably the best biography I've ever read--catty, informative, wanting to make sure you fully understand the society that shaped him. It's amazing. I not only know exactly how Winston's father contracted syphillus and that his mother was one of the Prince of Wales's mistresses, I know what it means when a butler stands in the hallway an hour before dawn and rings a gong. I've also learned that while money can't buy happiness, money and power and privilege? Dammmmmmn, they do a pretty good job.
*The way Kate Bush says 'sensual' in "The Sensual World". "Sen-syoo-al". Yum. Certain lines can just make a song, like A-Ha's "You're all the things I've got to remember", or Bono alliterating "colors clash, collide in bloodshot eyes"...but when a single word hits it out of the park, it's really something.
*World of Warcraft! The environments are so fun that I keep creating new characters just so I can roam around and explore more of the landscape. At this point I have a Dwarf, a Tauren (minotaur), a human, a Night Elf and an Orc, levels ranging from 2 to 10, and it's a hoot. Now if only my computer wouldn't get laggy every time I enter a big city, or other place where there's a lot of movement going on...and sometime I need to figure out the chat channels. And combo points. And why the trolls have Jamaican accents.
*All of y'all. I have the best friends ever!

Date: 2005-12-13 07:25 pm (UTC)Chat channels: Turn off or on by typing /join or /leave, and then the channel name.
Combo points: Only a concern if you're playing a Rogue. Some combat moves add a point against a target; others spend what points you've accumulated to dish out additional damage.
Trolls with Jamaican accents: It's cos dey originally from de Islands, mon! :^) Hey, all the Dwarves in WoW appear to be Scottish, so why not...

Date: 2005-12-13 10:04 pm (UTC)Have you heard Kate Bush's new CD? The reviews have been good, but since I bought a copy for Arne's birthday, and that day has not yet come, I haven't heard it yet.
