I need a 1-3 minute monologue for an audition. Something suitable for a 40 year old, intimidating knight would be ideal. (Okay, stop laughing). Any ideas?
i know it's kinda trite, but you could do the speech at the battle of agincourt from henry v. if the dude's 40, he might appreciate a classic. and you can make it a sort of "kick their asses!" tone as opposed to the soft and squishy "do your best" tone.
i dunno. i haven't had breakfast. i'm not thinking clearly.
The 'nose' speech from Cyrano de Bergerac, the one that starts 'Ah, no, you are too simple.' It's the list of insults.
I did it for an audition once (granted, for a high school play, but it went over really well, even so). It's lots of fun, and it lets you do split-second changes from one style to the next since each insult is given in a different manner, displaying your range. Also, you can make it really threatening by the end, if you want, in an exquisitely, "Not only am I dangerous, I am /much/ smarter and better educated than you - and I just might be crazy. You never know," kind of way.
Just a note to thank you, anonymous all-caps creepy person! If you hadn't posted this I never would have thought to check the Pastimes website or audition for them, and I'm so happy I did!
