NEW YORK Edward Bruce Tinsley, 48, creator of the comic strip Mallard Fillmore -- known for its conservative edge -- was arrested in Columbus, Indiana, on Dec. 4 and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, the Indianapolis Star reports today. He posted a $755 bond.

It was his second alcohol-related arrest in less that four months, according to the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department. His previous arrest was Aug. 26.

The comic appear in almost 400 papers in the U.S., including the Star.

Tinsley lives in Columbus. He a blood-alcohol level of 0.14 -- almost twice the level at which an Indiana driver is considered intoxicated.

As one of Urbaniak's friends stated, this is the first time I've come close to laughing at anything Mallard Fillmore-related.

Did you cut and paste that text? I love the grammatical error...

Are you referring to the lack of quotation marks around the words "comic" and "edge"? ;)

But yes, snipped from the original news site.

LOL! I'd heard about this. I guess he's taking last month's elections pretty hard!

Can't say that I'm surprised to hear that he's a habitual drunkard and lawbreaker, though... it makes his characters much more explicable... *EG*

The three moods of Mallard Fillmore:
1) Eyebrows up
2) Eyebrows down
3) Puking in a toilet

It's all a plot by the liberal media.

Now if the guy who writes "Curtis" could get busted for crack, I'd be a happy man. They could be staggeringly unfunny together...

Curtis isn't normally a laff riot, but one day he and Gunk are trying to track down the damn invisible lizard. They come upon a couple of dogs, and one dog is saying, "I tell ya, it just came out of nowhere, and..." The other dog nudges him, and he sees the humans. "Uh, I mean, bark! Bark, bark, bark, bark, bark." To his credit, Billingsley hasn't made it a running gag.

Now the Tinsley thing... that was laugh-out-loud kind of funny. And [livejournal.com profile] lediva's comment was almost as good.
