I am getting ready to make roasted loin of pork rubbed with herbes du Provence, wrapped in a brown sugar coating.

While I'm doing this, I'm eating Chef Boyardee ravioli straight from the can.

I'm sure there's a horribly significant metaphor in there somewhere.

Metaphorically speaking, I'd say that having to eat Chef Boyardee ravioli straight from the can, pretty much just to keep your busy, until your roasted loin of pork rubbed with herbs du Provence wrapped in a brown sugar coating is ready may be an excellent metaphor for the American educational system.

Last winter [livejournal.com profile] thorbol and I were making cassoulet (which, for us newbies, was a 3-day process). In the meantime, we were ordering in from a local pizza joint.

Are you going to start posting some of your recipes? Or have you already, and I just haven't looked?
