Ugh...Spamcopping is such a tedious morning ritual. I'm not sure why, but my spam's tripled this week. I hope it's just a temporary thing, some uber-spammer trying to generate quick cash to pay a legal settlement or buy back his soul or something.

Costume shopping continues! I found a turban and a wonderfully hideous gold necklace (I think it's actually meant to be used as a belt), and I think my "I'm trying to put together a costume for a character who wants to look like an Indian Rajah, but has no real idea what a Rajah actually *looks* like" brightened the clerk's day a bit.

Last night was the first meeting of my 'Writing for Improvisers' class. It feels promising--I'm pretty much the only person on the class who's not currently in an improv troupe (in some cases, in two or three *different* troupes at the same time)...in other words, compared to my current level of ability (a mediocre member of a Level II class), these are Gods Among Men. Yet these people, these folks with the ability to hop up on stage and pull complex stories out of the ether in front of an audience, are nervous and insecure about their writing ability!

To me, this totally doesn't compute...and the whole nervous, quiet "um...well...I, um, really like this, um, part?" critiquing is lightyears away from the circusy, shouty atmosphere of my Saturday performance class. But on the other hand, I don't feel like my brain is full and there's way more going on than I'll ever be able to adequately come close to achieving (see 'Saturday class', mentioned above). With luck we'll loosen up in this class, I'll get better on Saturdays, and the two classes will start to resemble each other. (I know, I know, so likely!)

Do Improvisers write up their acts? I thought they just made it up as they went along like in Theatre Sports.

Any chance of getting your ISP to install SpamAssassin? Harvard recently started using it and it's cut down on what ends up in my inbox a great deal. I still get a few that slip through, and I SpamCop those. There's also some other program out there, I can't remember the name, but it uses some kind of Bayesian system that learns as you go, it's supposed to be even higher accuracy than SA.
