Jan. 24th, 2008 09:51 amIt's been a little while since my last post! If you've been wondering what I've been up to, well, one picture sums it up perfectly:
(Naw, I'm just messing with you. But you clicked on the link, didn't you?)

That's right, I've spent the last few days either at or recovering from Arisia, New England's annual celebration of all things geeky. I think the expression on my face covers the whole range of emotions I felt over the course of it: delighted, a bit dazed, and a little unsettled all at the same time.
There were two huge factors that helped with my enjoyment this year. For one, for the first time I seem to have hit some sort of critical mass of friends attending, so for the first time ever I was always running into familiar faces (or at least, in the cases of
sylvari and
purpleprimate, online friends who I was happy to see in the flesh!) I'm not very good at the "multiple people I want to spend time with, limited amount of time" thing--I usually have the *opposite* problem--but it was a great problem to have.
For the other, having a con take place two streets away from my house was an introvert's heaven! It meant that whenever I felt myself burning out I could just head out, crash on the couch, open a can of stew and decompress for a while. And by "a while" I sincerely meant "just long enough to catch my breath, and then I'll head right back over", but which turned out to be "until you've showered, fed the fish, ordered a pizza, finished the last two chapters of that book you've been lugging around forever, oh and hey, did you happen to notice you've been sleep-deprived? Time to fix that". SO GOOD.
So anyhow, expect a little flurry of posts as I catch up on things!
