Mar. 12th, 2003 10:35 amWhee, my writing group liked it!
Well, parts of it. Large parts of it. Most of it, in fact. Even Matt "It's Too Wordy" Mosher the instructor did not uncap the dreaded red pen.
Here's the thing, though: I tried to have something light before the class, knowing that I'd be eating afterwards. I thought a salad would be safe. But nooooooo. About fifteen minutes before class starts I start to feel Discomfort. Of the gurgly, "bunch of air trapped and not sure which direction it wants to escape in but it will, oh yes, it will" variety. So as we're reading my play each silence is punctuated by these little gastric Stirrings. And by the time we're done and we begin the critique, it's torture--it was like with every question I was asked, the gas was trying to answer before I did. And it's not the sort of group where either bolting from the room or a huge explosive fart would be taken the right way. Trust me; I thoroughly considered both options.
